Security Advice

As you may know, Gulfworking.com is just a platform that brings together job seekers and HR Consultancies. We are not a recruitment agency, nor do we act as an employment consultant or partner with any employer. The portal is used by numerous HR Consultancies. Use of our website is subject to a number of terms and conditions which HR Consultancies are bound to accept and abide by. One of the primary purposes of these Terms and Conditions is to discourage and prevent abuse and fraud.

Unfortunately, sometimes fake job postings are posted online and non-existent job postings are sent via email in order to illegally collect personal information and/or money from unsuspecting job seekers. Please note that Gulfworking.com does not endorse or represent any employer or recruiter who sends such fraudulent communications, which is in fact a violation of the Terms of Service. In such cases, we remain vigilant every day – When we receive complaints from Jobseekers about fraudulent or suspicious emails, we promptly notify the concerned HR Consultancy client and, if necessary, block them from using our services.

On basis of past complaints from jobseekers, we encourage you to be wary of emails that
– Ask your personal, non-work related information such as Credit Card numbers or Bank information over phone or email.
– Do not provide a call back phone number or provide contact information that is outside the country.
– Ask for monetary transactions, money-transfers, or payment for Job Applications, conducting interviews, or any other such employment/recruitment related purpose.
– Promise a guaranteed job.
– Promise emigration and ask for money to process visa, etc.
– Before you respond to such emails, we suggest you to do a discreet enquiry and be sure to verify the legitimacy of the HR Consultancy with whom you are interacting.

If you received (or receive) suspicious email communications from a prospective Gulfworking.com client, please report them to [email protected]. We appreciate the trust you place in us and we are committed to making your job search on our site safe and fraud-free.

Educate yourself about Internet and Email Fraud/Scams

In our effort to curb the practice of fraudulently using information online, we want our users to be aware of the most common types of internet fraud. We encourage you to read the following and look out for warning signs. There are two types of email fraud: ‘phishing’ and ‘spoofing’. In both cases, the ‘from address’ is forged to make it appear as if it came from a source that it doesn’t actually come from.

What is Phishing?

Phishing is an attempt by scammers to “fish” for your personal information. A phishing attempt often takes the form of an email encouraging you to click on a link that will take you to a deceptive login page designed to collect your account/password/personal information. These emails can also be used to trick recipients into downloading malicious software. Please note that Gulfworking.com will never ask you to download any software to access your account. For more information about phishing scams and how to protect yourself against them, visit http://apwg.org/reportphishing/

What is Spoofing?

Spoof emails usually contain a fraudulent job offer and/or an invitation to make a money transaction. Unfortunately, these email scams are spread across the world and can target anyone, including unsuspecting job seekers who have registered with Gulfworking.com. The sender’s address is often hidden and/or the sender may not have provided all contact information such as correct physical address, phone numbers and email id.

Precautions that job seekers can take to protect themselves from suspected spoof emails have been mentioned above.
