- September 17, 2024
Dubai Customs has introduced a new vocational programme to help young Emiratis join the logistics sector. This initiative by the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation aims to give young people the skills and training they need to find jobs in this important industry. The logistics sector is seen as one of the fastest-growing areas in the economy.
The programme is part of ongoing efforts to invest in young Emiratis, offering them professional training to help them enter the job market and contribute to the country’s development. It is designed to help them meet the highest standards in logistics through both education and hands-on training.
Participants will be better prepared to find jobs in the private sector, which will help businesses in the logistics field find and employ local talent.
Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, said the programme reflects the leadership’s vision. It aligns with the ‘Dubai Economic Agenda D33’ by helping more Emiratis enter the workforce. He also mentioned that it supports the ‘Dubai Social Agenda 33,’ which aims to increase the number of Emiratis working in the private sector, boost productivity, and improve economic independence.
Dr. Abdullah Busnad, Director-General of Dubai Customs, said the programme is part of their five-year plan to train Emirati leaders who can adapt to a changing world and take advantage of new opportunities. He added that Dubai Customs provides a positive and creative work environment and is always working to improve the skills of local workers.
The programme will be carried out in partnership with strategic partners and will follow global best practices in logistics training. Dr. Busnad also mentioned plans to expand the programme to benefit more people and support corporate social responsibility.
Young Emiratis in the programme will receive both academic and practical training at Dubai Customs’ facilities. The goal is to prepare a skilled group of Emiratis who will deliver high-quality services when they enter the workforce.
Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director of the Human Resources Sector at Dubai Customs, spoke about the new opportunities this programme will create for young Emiratis. He highlighted the importance of the logistics sector in the economy and its potential to offer sustainable development.
Through the Customs Training Center and private sector partners, the programme will provide a comprehensive training experience, helping young people succeed in their future careers.
